Hi gals. I thought I should probably let people know that I do actually have a face. My name is Cara-Leigh.
I am a Mamma to the loveliest girl called Freya-Jane who's currently 19months old. I've always been a little different, have never followed the crowd in terms of fashion. Ever since I was really young, all my girl friends where wearing the trendy new sequin one shoulder dresses and there I was as my friends began to call me 'the hippie chick?'. It's taken me a while to truely find myself in the wonderful world of style, but I finally think I'm getting there. I first discovered vintage and retro when I was 15 at high school. We were given a project (in art class) of our choice. I had always been a big fan of old movies so took it upon myself to create a project on '100 years of fashion', I had to write and draw every era starting from the 1910's. I studied each decade intensly because I became obsessed with the beauty and glamour of the women and their clothing. It was like nothing I had ever seen. I then learnt how to style my hair like Rita Hayworth, began wearing red lipstick and so began my search for vintage clothing. I was lucky enough to find etsy and blogger and the rest is history. The first vintage thing I ever had were a pair of white leather 1970's boots brought for me by my partner for Christmas I thought they were wonderful. My first ever dress was a 1960's travelling dress that I still wear the life out of. I literally cannot get enough. Last April, I took a business course with the idea that I wanted a vintage boutique/bakery. Which turned out a little impossible at the moment untill I realised that I could set up my own online shop. I have been working so hard ever since. I know my vision is different and that I can make a difference in the vintage lovers world.
My style is still evolving, I love the 1950's and 60's mostly. I love anything lace, pastel, high waisted. I love floppy hats, circle dresses and wiggle dresses. My current love are late 60's-70's maxi dresses. I recently brought the prettiest 60's maxi dress I have ever seen. It has a chinese collar and a pastel pink and blue floral pattern all over it. My most cherished vintage items are a 1960's barbie bink prom dress, a 1950's blue lace prom dress and a wonderful 1970's brown fur coat. What first made you fall in love with vintage? And what are your most precious items?
Slightly strange writing about myself, something I have never done! A few photo's of me over the years. Since I have became a Mama I'm usually the one behind the camera so there aren't many.
